Youth Ministries Lead

Freshwater Community Church has an immediate need for a passionate and relational Youth Ministries Lead to oversee and grow our youth ministry, and we are eager to add to our Family Ministries Team. Position Summary
The Youth Ministry Lead at Freshwater Community Church, working under the Family Ministries Pastor, is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to our youth ministry programs, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment that emphasizes the truth about Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord while seeking to unleash students to be fully devoted followers of Christ that reach the world. This role involves planning and executing age-appropriate activities, fostering spiritual growth, and collaborating with staff, volunteers, and families.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Personally exemplify a relational, discipling culture in Youth Ministries that reflects the vision, mission, and values of Freshwater
- Recruit, train, equip, and evaluate servant leaders to carry significant responsibility in the Youth Ministries, ensuring a well-staffed and effective program
- Execute a strategic plan for the Youth Ministry, in cooperation with the Family Ministries Pastor, with an eye towards continuity throughout the Family Ministry, whole-family discipleship, and working toward equipping and empowering parents/families to disciple their children
- Communicate and enforce policies pertinent to Youth Ministries, including the revision and implementation of existing Child Protection Policies
- Select, adapt, and/or develop curriculum materials that emphasize the truth about Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Plan, coordinate, execute and/or oversee weekly ministries to youth; e.g. Sunday night youth group, discipleship groups, leadership development, etc.
- Plan, coordinate, fundraise and execute special events and trips, such as the Life Conference and summer missions trips, etc.
- Help develop and manage the Youth Ministry budget efficiently, including resource allocation and financial reporting
- Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new youth and families
- Administrative duties; e.g., maintaining appropriate parent and children information within Planning Center, attendance records, and registration
- Oversee the purchase, distribution, and use of all Youth Ministry equipment and supplies
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Prior children’s or youth related work experience in ministry or educational setting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent course work or concentrations in children or youth ministry recommended
- Knowledge of youth development and age-appropriate teaching methods
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Able to recruit, train, lead, and shepherd teams to accomplish above responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player who works effectively with staff and servant leaders
- Desire to learn new technologies in a ministry context
- Demonstrate Christian character and depth of spiritual maturity
- Engage in a lifestyle of spiritual disciplines and rhythms, resulting in a deeper relationship with Christ, His Family, and His Mission, as found in Mark 12:30-31
- Be committed to Freshwater Community Church through faithful attendance, giving, and service
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks
- Doctrinal alignment with The Christian and Missionary Alliance and values of Freshwater Community Church
Accountability
- Submit any macro changes of philosophy and programs to the Family Ministries Pastor for approval
- Have regular meetings with Family Ministries Pastor for accountability and support
- Receive an evaluation twice in the first year and annually thereafter, from the Family Ministries Pastor
- Input of performance will also be considered from interviews of people within the scope of the Youth Ministry Lead influence
- If an evaluation’s cumulative score is considered below average, this will trigger a 6-month evaluation process, involving oversight and guidance from the Elder Board. During this process there will be evaluations at 3 months, and at 6 months.
