Baptism

What is Baptism and Why is it Important?

Baptism is an important part of our walk with Christ. When a person makes the decision to get baptized, he or she is deciding to publicly confess a commitment to following Jesus. But baptism is not just an outward sign of our decision to follow Christ; He commands it in Scripture (Matthew 28:18-20), making baptism an act of obedience as well.

Symbolically, baptism is a powerful moment of joining with Christ in his death (to our old way of living), burial (when we are submerged in the water) and resurrection (when we emerge from the water).

BAPTISMS AT FRESHWATER

Baptism is a time of celebration at Freshwater, so we cheer and clap every time someone emerges from the water! It's a special moment that encourages everyone who witnesses it - whether they know Jesus or not. For many who are far from God, hearing someone else's baptism story plants their own seed of faith!

We typically schedule baptism services once per month for those who are ready to take this important step in their relationship with Christ. If you are ready to take that next step, please fill out the form at the link below and someone will contact you to discuss next steps.
