Fresh water to a thirsty world

Freshwater Staff   -

Last Sunday, the team that recently returned from a short-term mission trip to the Atlanta area shared about their experiences. While serving alongside Envision Atlanta, they immersed themselves in the diverse refugee community of Clarkston to meet practical needs and share the love of Christ.

From participating in English language classes and farm work to connecting with refugees on a personal level, the team experienced firsthand the impact of compassion and service. They were moved by the stories of so many people who had been displaced from their homes and separated from their families and friends.

In Deuteronomy 10:18-19, we see God’s immense love for refugees: “He…loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.”

Pastor Jake challenged us to consider our role in sharing God’s love with others. Just as this team brought fresh water to a thirsty land, we are called to be living examples of Christ’s love in our own communities and beyond.

The church has an opportunity to be a source of hope and healing for those who are hurting. By offering practical help, emotional support and spiritual guidance, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Whether it’s volunteering at a local food bank, mentoring a young person, or simply sharing a kind word, every act of love and compassion has the potential to transform lives. Let’s heed the call to be fresh water in a thirsty world, bringing the life-giving message of Christ to all who need it.
