Gen Now Family Ministry Opportunities

Freshwater Staff   -

Our Gen Now Family Ministry offers several connection points for children birth through 12th grade to grow in their relationships with Jesus, His family, and His mission.

In our Kids Ministry, open to all children from birth through 6th grade, we teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ while guiding kids at a young age into a growing relationship with Him. We believe children are the church of today and that these years are pivotal for building a faith foundation that lasts a lifetime. We see each moment we have with your child as an investment in eternity, and we don’t take this lightly. Our Gen Now Youth Ministry for teens in 7th-12th grade seeks to deepen relationships with our teens through large-group teachings, small-group discussions and studies, ongoing discipleship efforts, and events throughout the year that are designed to come alongside teens and their families in their journey toward Christ.

There are several ways you can be involved in discipling the next generation.

Sunday Mornings

Nursery/Toddler Room (birth-3 years of age): A place to create a nurturing and safe environment for kids that are separating from their parents for the first time. In our toddler room we do a lot of play, small lesson, craft, music and snack. All materials needed are done ahead and ready for the Sunday you serve.

Needs: 2 workers for first service, 5th Sunday

Preschool/Kindergarten Rooms (3’s/4’s and 5’s Kindergarten):
We separate the two groups by the ages above. It provides a smaller group which helps with classroom management. Half of the time is spent playing the other half is spent with music, lesson, activities and coloring. We provide a teen leader to help with each classroom. All materials needed are done ahead and ready for the Sundays you serve.

Needs: 2 workers first service serving every other month on rotation.

1st-4th Grade (HUB): Kids will start in worship with their parents then will be dismissed by a slide and come up to the HUB. In this room you will have one-two teen leaders assisting you. You will teach the story or have the option to play the story video, activities, key verse memorization, small group discussion. This room is meant to allow the kids to be actively engaged and participate in the learning process. Using the Bible and reading from scripture. All materials needed are done ahead and ready for the Sundays you serve.

Needs: 2 workers second service serving every other month on rotation.

5th/6th Grade (Room 110): This room is more teacher lead but heavy on leading discussion and focusing on the Christ Connection and allowing the kids to also ask questions and have discussion. In this class they do a lot of small groups reading scripture together and having discussion. They also do sword drills and love having friendly competition with each other. All materials needed are done ahead and ready for the Sundays you serve.

Need: 1 worker for second service serving every other month on rotation.

Subs: Someone who is willing to fill in when needed on a Sunday Morning when a teacher is sick and unable to serve. This could be for a certain age group/class or for any of the above Sunday Morning Classes.

Kids’ Midweek Ministries

Tuesday Night Ministry (5th/6th grade boys and girls): This is very much like a mini youth group night. Kids come in and hang out with each other, after hangout time it’s a large interactive game, we finish the night by a 15–20-minute lesson and then 20-25 minutes of growth group discussion (dividing into smaller groups by boys and girls). Leaders usually teach on rotation, and it ends up being possibly teaching 2 times a year. They can also help plan games and activities. Materials are provided in advance.

Need: 1 female leader

Wednesday Night Ministry (1st-4th grade boys and girls): We will be doing things differently this year and combining the boys and girls for the big game, potentially the lesson. Then we will divide out the boys and girls for growth group time and other things. Leaders are asked to teach on rotation and will also co-lead or lead growth groups. All materials, lessons and activities are provided.

Needs: 1 female leader and 1 male leader

Sunday Night Youth Group

Life Group Leaders: Our junior high and high school Life Groups are gender-exclusive and are split into groups based on grade level. Our adult Life Group Leaders often move through high school (and even junior high) with the teens in their groups while serving as a trusted voice during a pivotal time of life for our teens.

Need: 1 male leader for middle school and 1 for high school
