A Freshwater Commission
Last Sunday was an exciting day in the life of Freshwater! Todd Sovine from the Central District Office of the Christian & Missionary Alliance marked the beginning of a new season during the installation service for Pastor Jake.
Despite Jake’s role transition, however, Todd encouraged us to view leadership as a shared responsibility rather than solely resting on the shoulders of a lead pastor. Specifically, in Acts 20:28, the Apostle Paul challenges the traditional pastor-centered model and emphasizes the collective responsibility of the congregation in fulfilling God’s mission.
The New Testament church isn’t merely a spectator sport; we are commissioned to be active participants in God’s redemptive story. Each member is a unique masterpiece, equipped with specific gifts and talents to contribute to the overall picture. By stepping into our divinely ordained roles, we collectively become a living masterpiece, reflecting the glory of God.
As we embark on this new chapter with Jake as our lead pastor, let’s remember that our collective potential is far greater than any individual’s capacity.
