Karie Hershberger
Administrative Assistant
Karie grew up in Wadsworth and, after graduating high school, she attended Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, where she earned a BS in Communications with a minor in Special Education. She moved back to Wadsworth after graduation and met her husband Andrew while working at Christian Children’s Home of Ohio in Wooster. Karie and Andrew have two children, Alexandria and Hudson, and currently live in Rittman. Karie enjoys hiking with Andrew and spending time with her kids doing the activities they love.
Karie grew up in church and knew from a young age that she was called to serve her Lord and Savior in some way. She has gone on several mission trips and has served in many areas of church ministry over the years. Growing up in the church, Karie has learned many important values, but there are three that she lives by and is aways reminding her kids about:
- Never be afraid to learn something new. You don’t have to be a master at something – just having knowledge is important and useful. God can use the smallest thing in your life to glorify Him (for Karie…learning how to butcher a pig!).
- God can use you, even in your pain and even in your mistakes. You are a child of God! Your past can be a tool used in building your future and a testimony to those around you if you allow God to use it. (Jeremiah 29:11-14)
- Pray. Take time to be with your Heavenly Father. One of Karie’s life verses is Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know I am God.” Finding time to be in His presence is so important as a believer.
Karie joined the Freshwater staff in a step of faith in August of 2020. Her role as administrative assistant fits her well, as she enjoys working with people in all walks of life. Her attention to detail and her love of people and Christ shows in all she does. Karie strives to live her life “worthy of His calling” (Ephesians 1:4), knowing her future is spoken for and is so much more than just sitting behind a desk.
