Erika was born and raised in Chesterland, Ohio. She attended Cedarville University where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. While at Cedarville, she met her husband, Mike. Erika and Mike have three kids: Connor, Ella and Kate. As a family they love going on walks, playing games, and spending Saturday nights making pizza, hanging out and watching movies.
Erika grew up in a Christian home and has a legacy of parents and grandparents who love the Lord with all their hearts. Even with this legacy, there were times that she struggled with her faith and making it her own. She was deeply impacted by a middle school Sunday school teacher who walked with her as she wrestled with doubts and questions about her faith. It was through that struggle that Erika completely surrendered her life to the Lord.
Erika and her family started attending Freshwater in 2005. She has served in children’s ministry and women’s ministry, and also led community groups with her husband. In 2021, God opened a door for her to work alongside Pastor Len as the youth ministry assistant. This was a little out of Erika’s comfort zone, since she has always worked with children, but working with the youth ministry has been a huge blessing. She loves the youth at Freshwater and having a front row seat to see God moving and working in their lives.
