There your heart will be also
In Matthew 6:19-34, Jesus calls us to evaluate what (or who) captivates our hearts. What do we assign ultimate value and worth to – our loves, our longings, our loyalty?
As our Sermon on the Mount series continued last Sunday, Josh Raines reminded us that there is only one place where our hearts will truly find the peace and rest it desires. It’s a truth Jesus points to when he tells us to store up treasures in heaven instead of treasures on earth. “For where your treasure is,” Jesus says in Matthew 6:21, “there your heart will be also.”
Josh concluded with these questions for us to consider:
- What am I seeking after?
- Where is my heart?
- What storehouses have I built?
- What stuff am I storing or protecting?
- What have I assigned ultimate value to?
- Where can I retreat to that will give me rest from my fear?
- Who can I trust in that won’t create more anxiety in my life?
